The small town of Hogansville, Georgia is mourning the loss of one of their own, 44-year-old Amy Renee Elder. Amy passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 1, 2023. Prior to being found deceased, Amy had been reported missing.
Amy was known as a ministry leader, entrepreneur, bookkeeper, devoted wife, and loving mother. According to her obituary, Amy had placed her life and eternity into the hands of Jesus Christ, believing Him to be the Son of God and Savior of the world. She was a dedicated follower of Christ since committing herself to Him in her early 20s. Amy's Christian faith permeated every aspect of her life, leading her to love others including family, friends, and even adversaries.
Amy was said to love deeply during her time on earth. She was quick to forgive and generous with all. Her smile could light up any room and her bubbly personality was contagious to those around her.
Amy had a fun-loving spirit and many interests she enjoyed. As a child of the 80s, she loved that decade's pop culture like New Kids on the Block. She also enjoyed the fall season, Christmas, and watching classic 80s teen movies like License to Drive, Pretty in Pink, Can't Buy Me Love, and Girls Just Want to Have Fun. Amy also loved the TV show Friends and romantic films like The Notebook and Titanic.
She appreciated humor and counted comedians like Trey Kennedy, Tim Hawkins, and John Crist among her favorites. Like many of us, Amy adored Chick-fil-A. Yet above all, she cherished the Word of God which provided the foundation for her life.
To honor Amy's life, her family will be holding a celebration of life service on Friday, October 6th at 6:00pm. The service will take place at Oaklawn Baptist Church located at 482 Pine Road, Newnan, GA.
Amy's unexpected passing at such a young age has been deeply felt by her family, friends, and community. While coping with incredible grief, those who knew Amy are also giving thanks for the 44 years they had the privilege of sharing life with her. Amy touched countless lives through her vibrant faith, generous spirit, endearing personality, and gift for loving others well.
The town of Hogansville has lost a cherished community member. Amy Elder lived her life as a passionate follower of Jesus, loving wife, caring mother, and good friend to many. Though her time on earth ended far too soon, Amy's legacy lives on in the hearts of those she loved and through her faith in Jesus Christ. The community continues to grieve this devastating loss while also celebrating the life of a remarkable woman.
